Each year, we honor the life and work of Annie Walker
Armstrong (1850-1938) when we give to the annual offering for home missions
named after her. As a tireless servant of God and a contagious
advocate and supporter of mission efforts throughout the world, Annie
Armstrong led women to unite in mission endeavors that ultimately led to the
formation of Woman’s Missionary Union, for which she served as the first
corresponding secretary.
Annie believed in Christ with all her heart, but it was her
hands that expressed that belief in tangible ways. She spent a great
amount of time typing and handwriting letters in support of missions.
Many of these letters were quite lengthy and all were filled with conviction
that more could and should be done in our mission efforts. In 1893
alone, she wrote almost 18,000 letters! Annie also never hesitated to
use her hands to reach out to hug a child or distribute food and clothing
and the Word of God to those in need. Her hands held her own Bible as
she studied to know how best to share God’s love with others. And,
most important, Annie was a woman of prayer, folding her hands in prayer to
intercede for the missionaries and for those they were helping discover
Christ.
Annie rallied churches to give more, pray more, and do more
for reaching people for Christ. As we continue to unite to make her
vision a reality in North America today, we can be confident that her legacy
will also be ours.
Why Give to Annie Armstrong? Because three of four
people in North America are lost. One hundred percent of dollars given
to the AAEO go to support over 5,300 missionaries and their ministries in
the United States and Canada. Though their stories and methods are
different, they share the common desire to change the world. Whether
it is starting a new church, meeting the needs of the homeless, leading
worship at a ski resort, or leading Back Yard Bible clubs, missionaries
depend on the faithful prayers and generosity of Southern Baptists.
Please pray for our missionaries and give generously to the Annie Armstrong
Easter Offering. Please use the envelopes in the pews and mark your
checks Annie Armstrong.

LORD, I Want to
Know You
By Kay Arthur
Ladies, where do you run in time of need?
When trouble, worry, and fear come; when your energy is spent; when weakness
zaps you; when you feel you cannot run any longer, where do you turn?
Beginning Feb. 27, for nine weeks, we are going to study the names of
the Lord so we will know where to run to find help in time of need.
Lord, I Want To Know You by Kay Arthur will be led by Karen Hill at the
home of Jo Ellen Anderson on Wednesday mornings from 9:00-10:30.
Please call Karen Hill or email karenhill77479 AT yahoo.com or call the

City
of
Angels
By Tracie Peterson & James Scott Bell
The setting for this novel and first-rate legal
thriller begins in 1893 when thirteen-year-old Kit Shannon experienced
injustice of the court after the loss of her mother. That fueled her
intense desire to become a lawyer and seek justice for others. At the
turn of the 20th century, no one understood or wanted to accept the ambition
of of this young lady. It was simply unheard of! With
determination and a strong trust in the scripture promise,
“I can do all things through Christ
who strengthens me,”
she lands a job in the office of a successful criminal lawyer. You’ll
have to read the book to see how she helps unravel a huge case and earns her
acceptance to the bar.
Tracie
Peterson has written over 35 books and James Scott Bell is a former trial
lawyer and author of several suspense novels.

March:
The spring
quarter begins with a study entitled “Living 3:16 in a 9/11 World.”
This begs the question, what does 3:16 mean? And what does it have to
do with 9/11? We can answer that by saying it is fate or divine
providence. When we hear the term 3:16, as Christians, the first thing
that comes to mind is John 3:16. Many are probably able to quote it
from memory. In John 3:16 there is an amazing truth this verse
expresses—God
so loved the world (US) that He gave His only Son that WE
might have eternal life. But, 3:16 is the location of several Books in
the Bible that have additional amazing truths of God. If we examine
2 Timothy 3:16, 1 Corinthians 3:16, 1 John 3:16, Ephesians 3:16, and
Revelation 3:16 we find that each of these contains a remarkable word from
God.
These verses give hope,
encouragement, and direction for people who are struggling with fear and
insecurity. That is how 3:16 connects to 9/11. Join us in March
as we will use these various 3/16 verses to answer the following questions.
How can
the Bible help me live confidently in today’s fearful uncertain world?
What can
I do for God to be more at home in life and church?
How can God expect me to love all people?
What does Jesus’ resurrection mean to me?
And,
why should I be passionate about knowing and following Jesus Christ?
